The “muda” was the type of ship used by the Venetians to transport their precious cargo from Venice to Constantinople. The wine which carries this name is also a “precious cargo” for Gritti’s estate because it represents the type of vintage whose characteristics are particularly difficult to obtain.

Tasting Notes:
Dark ruby-red in color with clear purple red shades. It offers warm intense
scents of dry prune, faded fl owers, violet, dark cherry and olive. Vigorous tannins yield to a fresh acidity and good body. Final sensations on the lasting finish give up a cherry core, almond and green fruit.
Vineyard Notes:
Grapes are carefully selected from 4 hectares of alluvial soil, of mixed type, with moderate amounts of limestone. Vines were cultivated in a hammered cord fashion, 5,000 vines per hectare at an altitude of 300m above sea level.

Production:
70% Sangiovese, 20% Montepulciano, 10% Merlot - Sangiovese and Montepulciano were prefermented at 15°C for 48 hours, then fermentation at 30°C for 20 days and refined in stainless steel vats. Merlot was fermented at 30°C for 22 days and matured in wood vats for 5 months.
